Letter, 1785 September 30.

Letter to Stephen Van Rensselaer written in protest of the actions of Philip Van Rensselaer, who, as representative of the late [?] Holland, dispossessed a tenant under Van Schaack. The tenant had permission to rent the land from Holland himself and had paid the rent up to 1788. Van Schaack states that this action had been taken while he was at war and had no means of stopping it, and asks that the wrong doing be corrected. Signed H. Van Schaack; written at Richmond, Va.
